Gene Vollendorf founded Savoy Capital Management Ltd. which he built from $1 million to over $300 million of assets under management. He then founded Wolverine Asset Management Ltd. which he successfully merged with Newgen Asset Management Ltd. In addition to his portfolio management business, he started his own merchant bank, Shangrila Capital LP in 2005. Through Shangrila, he built several other successful companies including ones in the financial services and energy services industries that were successfully sold to competitors. Gene’s also founded and managed the Bissett Microcap Fund in 1997.
As a Canadian small cap portfolio manager, Gene invests strictly in entrepreneurial growth companies. He has a long and successful portfolio management track record.

Gene began his career on Wall Street in the early 1990s where he worked in the high yield department at Salomon Brothers Inc , the firm made famous in the Michael Lewis’ bestseller, Liar’s Poker. During his career on Wall Street, he worked on deal teams that successfully raised billions of dollars for such entrepreneurs as Donald Trump, Charles Hurwitz, The Pritzker Family and Li Ka-Shing.
Gene Vollendorf is a Chartered Financial Analyst , CFA, (1999). He also earned his MBA from the University of Chicago (1995).
